I strongly agree with Ken. My father was in Congress for 28 years and 
during most legislative recesses he went to work each weekday at his 
in-district office. On weekends he attended many functions where he 
interacted with his constitutents and ate a lot of pot roast, macaroni, 
and chicken (depending on the ethnicity of the neighborhood). Even on 
family outings and dates with Mom, he had to be "on" at a moment's 
notice. There were certainly family vacations during school breaks, but 
mostly "recess" meant face time.
