While much of the US this winter faced unusual Arctic cold air masses
moving into the lower latitudes of the US, Moscow was often spared
these extreme cold temperatures. But the forecast today from the
National Weather Service predicts we may face record setting Arctic
cold next week. Caps below are as is from the website:

http://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=IDZ003&warncounty=IDC057&firewxzone=&local_place1=Moscow+ID&product1=Hazardous+Weather+Outlook

WINTER CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY TO RETURN TO THE INLAND NORTHWEST
AFTER A LONG HIATUS. BY LATE TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...A STRONG ARCTIC
FRONT WILL DROP INTO THE REGION. THIS FRONT WILL DELIVER MUCH COOLER
TEMPERATURES...BRISK WINDS...AND A CHANCE OF MODERATE TO LOCALLY HEAVY
SNOWFALL. THE THREAT OF SNOW WILL EASE BY THURSDAY...FOLLOWED BY A
SURGE OF MUCH COLDER AIR. HOW COLD TEMPERATURES GET WILL DEPEND ON HOW
MUCH SNOW FALLS EARLIER IN THE WEEK. IF MOST LOCATIONS GET
SNOW...TEMPERATURES COULD DROP TO THEIR COLDEST LEVELS SINCE EARLY
JANUARY. NUMEROUS DAILY RECORDS FOR COLD TEMPERATURES COULD BE
SHATTERED BY THURSDAY AND BEYOND.
