The following U.S. service members died while supporting Operation
Enduring Freedom combat operations in Afghanistan, confirmed by the
Defense Department from December 16, 2011 through December 22, 2011:

Army Staff Sgt. Joseph J. Altmann, 27, of Marshfield, Wisconsin; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Army Spc. Mikayla A. Bragg, 21, of Longview, Washington; assigned to the 201st Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Knox, Kentucky.

December 16, 2011 – December 22, 2011
Killed: 2; Wounded in action: 43

October 10, 2001 – December 22, 2011
Killed: 1,843; Wounded in action: 15,133
