[Vision2020] Obama rules out trading Keystone XL for payroll tax cut

Political strategists of various ideologies were hoping to exploit
Obama's decision on the Keystone XL Canadian tar sands product US
pipeline, till the decision to review the pipeline again and delay a
final verdict till after the 2012 election.  Obama with this decision
dodged a difficult political situtation, given if he had approved the
pipeline, a very vocal national environmental movement would have been
protesting, and if he killed it, he would be labled anti-jobs and
anti-national energy security, siding with tree hugger anti-capitalist
eco-nuts, as it might be phrased.

The republicans are attempting to make the Keystone XL pipeline again
a political 2012 election issue, on jobs and national energy security,
as can be read below, trying to force Obama into making a politically
problematic decision:
