As an obstetrician, Paul is certainly in a position to have a reasoned opinion on the topic of abortion. Beyond that, it is my understanding that much of his opposition to R v. W stems from it's not passing constitutional muster. There is clearly nothing in the Constitution that provides for a federal intrusion into the matter and it should be returned to the individual states for adjudication.

Paul,
I think if you followed him a bit you’d find his private life is probably not the primary reason he’s out of this race. After all, Newt’s still there. Personally, I think Cain is an arrogant ass. He talks about God’s plan in his life—maybe it’s to live as an Old Testament David (with the sex drive and not the intellect) because his ignorance about international issues certainly points out his lack in that regard. Take a look at his responses to inquiries about countries in Asia and Libya as a US concern, for example. And if you vote for Ron Paul the Gods aren’t going to help you. If I were a Republican I’d be looking at Huntsman. I don’t think he’d disgrace us as President and he seems to be the only R candidate who isn’t totally over-awed by Tea Party rhetoric. Even Ron Paul given his abhorrence of government intrusion into personal lives, is out there shouting to the masses that overturning Roe v Wade would be a really good idea.

I don't follow Cain, and I suspect that if I did I'd find a lot of issues upon which we disagree. I just hate to see someone ousted from the race based solely on how he handles his private life.
Gods help me, if things keep going as they are, I might be voting for Ron Paul next November.
Paul

I do think Darrell's point has a lot of merit. My concern with Herman Cain, other than his complete lack of any valid credentials that might serve this nation well in these troubled times, both nationally and internationally, is his arrogance. If he doesn't know it, it isn't important. If he says she was only a "friend" in spite of claims to the contrary, the media are wrong to inquire further. And bottom line, I can't imagine a marriage in which the husband, who--over a 14 year period, squires another woman around in public and has ongoing communication with her, has never even mentioned her to his wife as a friend, co-worker, whatever. He says his communication with her was to help her financially, with personal and family problems, etc. Supposedly it was like taking her on as a grown up "foster child." While spouses don't necessarily talk a lot about business, it's experience such as helping others that they do generally share. He says his wife didn't know--maybe she did and maybe she didn't. Spouses put up with infidelity for any number of reasons; she probably had hers. Despite his claims, this hasn't been a media lynching. Lynchings were shameful historical events. His troubles arise from his own personal sense of entitlement.

If he is guilty as now seems probable, he should be out. What I do not understand is why he is out and Newt is taking he lead.
