PRESS RELEASE
Moscow City Council to discuss results of Surface Water Reservoir Feasibility Study

November 30, 2011 (Moscow, Idaho) - The Moscow City Council will hold a workshop in the City Council Chambers in City Hall to discuss the findings of the recently completed Surface Water Reservoir Feasibility Study on December 2, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The workshop is free and open to the public.

The Surface Water Reservoir Feasibility Study was performed by TerraGraphics Environmental Engineering, SPF Water Engineering, and URS Corporation. The workshop will be facilitated by consultants Susan Firor of TerraGraphics and Christian Petrich of SPF. At the workshop, a summary review of the completed study will be provided and discussion held on whether the City of Moscow should continue studying the concept of a Surface Water Reservoir and, if so, how to proceed.

The study identifies options including a wide range of reservoir sizes, watershed capacity, locations, and potential use of the water collected. If the Council decides to continue with the next phase of the study it will likely include a detailed assessment of the feasibility of selected watersheds and reservoir sites through the performance of detailed hydrologic studies, and review of water rights and land ownership, consideration of the geology of the proposed sites for dams and reservoirs, potential permitting requirements, and other related issues.
