Actually, there are those opposed to the megaloads whose concerns have far more to do with the size, weight, length, width, possible road, infrastructure, tree damage, noise, etc. of these vehicles than the particular product said megaloads are carrying. Be it rabid liberal protestors, rabid Sarah Palin fans, whiffle balls, styrofoam peanuts, peanut butter, spark plugs, computers, lawn mowers, snow shovels, vacuum cleaners, watches, coffee (unless it's really good Italian blend), James Michener novels (3 of them would probably overload one of the vehicles), or the early recordings of Tiny Tim, pre "Tiptoe Through the Tulips". But I've learned my lesson. If something is approved by the Idaho Department of (fill in the blank), just get out of the way and shut up......

Huh… I’d be curious what the reaction would be if a megaload materialized that was 200,000 pounds, 14 feet wide, and was filled to the brim with rabid liberal protesters on their way to Canada to voice their displeasure. Would THAT also get a NIMBY response? Jay From: deb [mailto:debismith at moscow.com]

But, (not knowing anything else about this load, other than the text printed here)... THIS megaload is for a “high-efficiency evaporator plant that is designed to reduce greenhouse gases and generate electricity from steam”... ??? Well, we saw it coming, didn't we? BOISE – A transport company will ship two over-legal loads eastbound on U.S. 12 for Weyerhaeuser next week, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.Nickel Bros will haul equipment from the Port of Wilma in Clarkston, Washington, to a Weyerhaeuser pulp mill in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. The equipment is for a high-efficiency evaporator plant that is designed to reduce greenhouse gases and generate electricity from steam.
The first load will enter on Idaho 128 from the Port of Wilma at about 5:30 a.m. on Monday, August 29, connect with U.S. 12 and continue eastbound to Montana. The load is 17.7 feet high, 14 feet wide and 118 feet long, and weighs 200,478 pounds.
Traffic delays are not anticipated, and the shipment will travel during daylight hours. It is scheduled to take one day to travel from the Port of Wilma to the Idaho/Montana state line. The transport will be accompanied by two pilot vehicles in the front of the shipment and one behind it.
The second shipment is scheduled to arrive in Idaho north of Lewiston on Tuesday, August 30, shortly after 3 a.m. It also will enter on Idaho 128 from Washington, connect with U.S. 12 and continue to the Idaho-Montana state line.
The second load is 19 feet high, 14.6 feet wide and 234 feet long, and weighs 433,282 pounds. Because of its length, there may be traffic delays while the shipment navigates corners on the highway. Delays will be limited to 15 minutes or less. It also is scheduled to take one day to travel to the Idaho/Montana state line.

P.S. We all might need a midnight snack and The Pie Hole has some pretty good pizza by the slice. : )=======================================================
