Police: Boise woman who stole beer faces felony

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A woman suspected of stealing a 24-ounce can of beer from a Boise grocery store faces a felony burglary charge at a preliminary hearing next week after police say they found evidence the heist was planned.

Court records show a preliminary hearing for 35-year-old Victoria M. Hill has been scheduled next Friday in Idaho's 4th District Court.

Police say Hill was arrested last Thursday after witnesses at a Boise grocery store watched her stow a single can of beer in her purse and then leave without paying for it. Store employees followed Hill out of the store and called police.

Police say Hill was arrested on a felony after they found evidence she entered the store with intent to steal.

Perhaps if, instead of stealing one beer, she took a 12-pack, drank it all, stole an SUV (and trailer), and went for a ride before causing damage to the SUV, she would have been eligible for  the Senator McGee special.  Her sentence shouldn't amount to any more than 12 hours of community service.  Right, Mac?
