Tea partiers are 'scary crazy'

I would like to thank the tea party for holding their rally on Friendship
Square last week. Through this rally, they have allowed us to see their
true character.

These are not just folks with conservative views. These people are
right-wing extremists.

One of the four featured speakers, Idaho Rep. Phil Hart, is perfectly
willing to accept Idaho taxpayer dollars for his salary and government
benefits but refuses to pay Idaho taxes himself. Is this his vision of
fiscal responsibility?

Event organizer and speaker Jeff Williams exhorted the crowd to dismantle
government, including the public education system. I guess Williams forgot
about Article IX of the Idaho Constitution that states "... it shall be
the duty of the Legislature of Idaho, to establish and maintain a general,
uniform and thorough system of public, free common schools." Maybe
Williams is pining for the good old days when only the wealthy could
afford school and the rest of us had to stay poor and ignorant.

Another speaker, failed Idaho legislative candidate Isaac Young, said that
it was important for us all to learn how to fire a gun. It is a tool, not
a weapon. Young also warned that we should all stock up on nonperishable
food and adequate work clothing and boots to ensure our survival. Gosh,
let's all rush out and load up on powdered milk and ammunition - the
bogeyman is coming! Clearly, Young had at least one avid supporter,
however, who wandered around downtown with his MAK-90 semi-automatic
assault rifle strapped to his back. I feel safer already. I do agree,
though, that maybe good boots are in order. Something is getting really
deep.

Let's take a closer look at these people. These folks are not mainstream
conservatives. They do not represent Main Street America. These people are
scary crazy.
