PRESS RELEASE
Title: City of Moscow Arbor Day Ceremony at 1912 Center

April 21, 2011 (Moscow, Idaho) - The City of Moscow will be hosting the annual Arbor Day ceremony and tree planting at 12:30 pm, Friday, April 29, 2011 at the 1912 Center in Moscow. The City's 18th Tree City USA Award will be acknowledged and presented by Joyce S. Jowdy, Grants/Contracts Program Specialist of the Idaho Department of Lands.

The tree will be planted at the 1912 Center as part of the tree plan for the general improvements currently underway at the site. Representatives of the neighborhood including the Ft. Russell Historic District, Latah County Historical Society, Heart of the Arts and the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Palouse will be present, along with other community members, to honor the commitment of the neighborhood and the community to a healthy urban forest.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the ceremony, help plant the "Spring Snow Crab" tree, and take home a free Japanese Maple seedling courtesy of the Moscow Tree Commission. Entertainment will be provided by the Moscow High School Glee Club. The ceremony will be held inside the 1912 Center in the event of inclement weather.

This event was planned and organized by the City of Moscow Tree Commission, a volunteer organization of the City of Moscow. The Tree Commission would like to encourage citizens to plant a tree on Arbor Day or any day!
