[Vision2020] Bouma didn't show up

I am furious about his refusal to discuss issues with his opponent. Gresham Bouma is milking the postcard incident for all it’s worth. I’m beginning to wonder now, just who did send it? Bouma has certainly used this as an excuse to hide behind his followers and keep his philosophical ideas to himself. I have to say, I wish now I had not denied Nick Gier the opportunity for a follow up question at the AARP Forum. I recognized Bouma was evading the legitimate concerns of Mr. Gier and others who have read the sermons posted on the church website (I guess they’ve been pulled now.) but I had never through the years allowed a followup and decided not to at that time. I was totally stupid. Bouma knew he would get away with his evasive rationale and I was concerned about being even handed. I neglected to be fair because I was concerned about protocol. Nick, I’m sorry.

The other concern I have is Bouma’s education ad. He touts his service as a public school teacher, auditor, whatever, shows the picture of his cute (he really is, I talked with him) young son, who has been home schooled. One needs to ask, “when teachers school their own students at home or in places other than the public schools, just where does their loyalty lie?”

Someone on this website mentioned what? Bouma’s 4 or 5 traffic tickets over the past decade. (Declaration: I got one, too, once. It was 40 something years ago when Scott was a baby. It was all his fault.) And one of Bouma’s is for speeding through a work zone. And a fishing violation....another issue. I wasn’t going to speak to this anywhere, but Bouma refuses to deal with the “unwashed” so I’ll do it here. The positions of his minister are legitimate questions for those of us who would ask Bouma’s response to them. I was particularly incensed by the incident when his minister promoted Bouma’s campaign from the pulpit then admitted he knew it was a violation of federal law for him to do so. Did Bouma repudiate that statement? There is no record he did. And now, I understand, all that material has been removed from their website. Are they ashamed? They should be. What it leaves me to believe is this: GRESHAM BOUMA WILL OBEY THE LAW IF HE FEELS IT IS HIS RELIGIOUS RESPONSIBILITY TO DO SO. IF HE FEELS IT ISN’T, HE IS PERFECTLY WILLING TO LOOK THE OTHER WAY. Reminds me of a former governor of Texas who said it wasn’t a lie if there wasn’t a Bible in the room. I do not want that sort of person representing me in Boise—Bouma must love Phil Hart, he campaigned with him. So now he’s willing to tie himself to folks who don’t pay their taxes and steal from public school children. No, you can’t ask him about any of that. He refuses to participate in any activity in which he can’t control the questions.

Title says it all. Bouma didn't show up to the radio call-in show tonight. This upsets me greatly, because I REALLY wanted to ask him a question. Grrrrrr. . .

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
