Title:  2010 Water Summit Series Hosts Regional Experts

October 4, 2010 - The 2010 Palouse Basin Water Summit Planning Committee is hosting the 2010 water summit speaker series entitled "Building a Resilient Water Supply on the Palouse - Tools for Success,", and panel discussion, with questions and answer session on Thursday, October 7, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Best Western University Inn in Moscow, Idaho. This event is free and open to the public.

Speakers featured in the series include:
Steve Robischon, Palouse Basin Aquifer Committee (PBAC) Chair from Moscow, Idaho presenting an update on PBAC Activities. Robischon is the Executive Manager of the PBAC and serves as an Assistant Director of the Idaho Water Resources Institute. He has degrees in Mechanical Engineering (BS, MS Montana State) and Geography (MS, University of Idaho).

Allyson Beall, University of Idaho Waters of the West (WoW) Participatory Modeler from Moscow, Idaho; presenting information on the Palouse Basin Water Visioning Tool, a WoW Systems Dynamics Model. Beall's expertise includes the use of system dynamics as an environmental problem solving methodology. Her work supports the use of collaboratively built simulation models to improve environmental decision making processes and has included projects concerned with endangered species management, watershed and aquifer management.

Keynote speaker Steve Moddemeyer, CollinsWoerman Principal, from Seattle, Washington; presenting "Building a Resilient Water Supply on the Palouse - Tools for Success." Moddemeyer leads the global sustainable development practice for CollinsWoerman, an integrated architecture and planning firm based in Seattle, Washington.  Moddemeyer leads the Cities of the Future program, an innovative policy initiative to radically increase the resilience and livability of cities through smart choices in land use and infrastructure investments. Moddemeyer also speaks internationally, including recent presentations in Stockholm, Singapore, Mexico City, Boston, Vienna, Istanbul, New Orleans, and Beijing. Working with the International Water Association, Moddemeyer helped launch a 3-year collaboration with the Turkish government and the cities of Istanbul, Kayseri and Trabzon. Prior to joining CollinsWoerman, Moddemeyer was a senior strategic advisor in the Director's Office of Seattle Public Utilities.

No advanced registration is required for the event. Appetizers and a no-host bar will be provided for participants. Attendees are encouraged to stay after the presentations and discussion to build and strengthen relationships with others interested in continuing the water dialogue here on the Palouse.
