[Vision2020] Thought to Ponder

Lt. Choi, besides being a man with tremendously important skills and qualifications, is a true hero for honoring his oath to fight for our country and for justice. He is also a man who loves men -- a truth about him that should be utterly irrelevant to anyone but him and his partner. That this man can no longer serve his country, and do so in a capacity for which we have enormous need, is a disgrace.

Remaining silent in the face of injustice is, as Choi says below, "an unequivocal moral dereliction." Unfortunately, it appears to be all the rage everywhere you look these days.

Thanks, Tom, for sending this out.

“From
the first moment we put on our nation’s uniform and swore our solemn
oath, we committed ourselves to fight for freedom and justice, to defend
our constitution and put the needs of others before our own. This is not an
oath that I intend to abandon. Doing so at such a time, or remaining silent
when our family and community members are fired or punished for who they
truly are, would be an unequivocal moral dereliction that tarnishes the
honor of the uniform and insults the meaning of America.”

honorably discharged through the “don’t ask,
don’t tell” policy.
