Speaking of the census . . .

My wife was a census taker back in 1990 up in the Coeur d'Alene area
(Harrison, Beauty Bay, etc. etc.).

Some of the locals were/are very friendly. They envited her in and sat
and had coffee while filling out the form.

We had a 1987 Jeep Wrangler back there and then. It came in handy for her
on several occasions where she almost had to trailblaze to get to some
residences. Some times she would be lucky and there would be an old
unused-for-years logging road to get to some of those backwoods places.

Her scariest moment was doing a long form on an anti-government family
living in one of those backwoods residences. She did that twice before
her supevisor told her that she could have simply written them off under
some "unavailable" or "unsafe to attempt" category.

Just a little Friday chatter.

Seeya tomorrow, Moscow.
