[Vision2020] Sheep to slaughter fools and their money are soon parted

The very curious article immediately below raises some interesting questions.

New Saint Andrews is part of the Christ Church Cult. Why are they holding their convocation at the Church of the Nazarene?

Because, despite all the pomp and ballyhoo of their self-promoting cultmaster/parson, Douglas Wilson, the cult doesn't even have its own church building! They "worship" in a grade school gymnasium and have for many years.

Here's the interesting part: The Evangelical Free Church of Pullman is in the final stages of building a new worship center on Airport Road.

A number of the hierarchy of this church used to be associated with Wilson but long ago firmly disassociated themselves from him over well-grounded concerns about Wilson's honesty, egomania, megalomania, crackpot Calvinistic theology, and his suitability to even be a messenger for Christ. They will soon have their own church while Wilson's cult uncomfortably sit commanded to attention in a gymnasium with its various miasmas.

But what has happened to the millions that Wilson has raised? Has most of it been spent building an self-monumenting empire and spending funds whose purpose seems to be the glorification and self-aggrandizement of Wilson himself instead of building a church in which to worship Christ?

The only progress toward building a church the cult has made has been to buy a lot at almost three times its market value; an irregular lot with several restrictions that will hardly hold a church of any great size, let alone the needed parking.

If one reads the traffic over the internet now, Wilson's grand self-promoting/worshiping plan seems to be failing. He has become, especially since the release of the film of he and Hitchens, a figure of some very clever and amusing ridicule. Even some of his former allies now think his views as expressed, for example, in his Federal Vision writings are really over the top. His other views have also lost favor among former and shortly to be former followers. Would-be followers/allies have also began to remark more often and more pointedly about Wilson's focus on himself rather than on the proper object of Christianity.

What used to be the Trinity Festival is now a pathetic joke of a conference with no outside speakers, and with dim-bulb Wilson son-in-law Bennie Merkle as the headline speaker. Can you imagine paying money to listen to Merkle (except for its bizarre entertainment value)? How far the once self-regarded as mighty have fallen!

And why does Wilson blog articles advocating extreme right-wing politics which not only alienates more of his followers but appears to violate the nonprofit tax exemption the cult enjoys at our expense? Does he see the local tea-baggers as his last hope to build his sagging cult membership?

I am not a believer, but even I can see the difference between the sincerity and purpose of the Evangelical Free Church of Pullman and their worship community piously and with great self-sacrifice building their own church while Wilson and his cult, some of whom continue to fawn on the cultmaster instead of Christ, pretend to be Christians despite their Calvinism and obviously without enough love of Christ to build a church to worship in.

Doesn't this make Wilson a flimflamer as a religious messenger and certainly a glaring failure with regard to having a church after all these years and all the money spent? A number of his former and soon to be former followers seem to think so.
