Clearly, IF you're going to commit a serious crime, do it in Latah
County, not over in Whitman County. Over there if you ATTEMPT murder,
you get 75 years! Over here if you're successful and actually kill
two people,
the most you'll get is 40 years.

Lewis Lawrence sentenced to 75 years in prison
April 21, 2010, 12:13 pm
A shooter found guilty of three counts of attempted murder was
sentenced to 75 years in prison this morning in Whitman County.
Asotin County Superior Court Judge William Acey said he felt forced to
give Lewis A. Lawrence, 21, the maximum sentence for his crime after
Lawrence made threatening statements during the hearing.
“(You’re) still so angry,” Acey said. “You have so much vile hatred in
your heart ... I have no choice but to sentence to you the maximum
amount.”
Whitman County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Dan LeBeau originally asked
Lawrence serve 210 months for each of the three counts of attempted
murder. After Lawrence threatened one of the victims during the
hearing, Acey said he “had to” increase the sentence to 240 months for
each count. Lawrence’s sentence also was increased by 15 years because
he used a shotgun during the crime, which adds 60 months to each count.
LeBeau said the earliest Lawrence can be released is after serving 69
years of prison time, when Lawrence will be eligible for probation.
