Census Countdown - Midnight April 16th* Deadline

 

Moscow, Idaho - As the 2010 Census countdown comes to close April 16th*
at midnight, leaving only two days for the public to mail back their
census forms.  For every form that is not mailed back a census take must
follow-up in person with every address that doesn't mail back the form
in order to obtain the responses.  The cost for these visits is $60 per
household, and if the nation achieves a 100% return rate tax payers
would save $1.5 billion dollars.

 

As of April 15, 2010 at 3 p.m. the participation rate for the Nation is
68%, the State of Idaho is 71%, Latah County is 72% and the City of
Moscow is 70%.

 

An accurate census will reflect changes in our communities and is
crucial in apportioning seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and
deciding how more than $400 billion per year is allocated for projects
like new hospitals and schools.

 

The US Census Bureau is asking all citizens to "Take 10 Minutes" to
complete and mail back their 10 question 2010 Census forms before the
deadline of April 16th* at midnight.

 

*Correction, April 16th is the deadline, not April 17th
