Well=2C nobody is approving of anti-gay violence=2C let alone homosexuals' =
violence against themselves and other homosexuals=2C but apparently the gri=
eving parents had by that time managed to pull themselves together enough t=
o reaffirm that 1) they had done right by their son by making no effort to =
get him to change=2C and 2) rather than seeking to change homosexuals=2C th=
ey would try to change society to accept homosexuals. And of course behind =
all that is the underlying assumption that biblical Christian morality is p=
art of the problem. That being the case=2C I hardly think the gentle rebuke=
 in that letter makes someone a "godless soul"=3B however=2C perhaps you wo=
uld like to put the same question to Joe and Marion Allen=2C whose son Bart=
 was murdered by his homosexual live-in lover when he was trying to come ou=
t of homosexuality.=20

Allen's parents=2C Joe and Marion=2C founded Hope for the Broken Heart afte=
r his tragic murder. They have spoken at numerous Exodus International even=
ts since then.

When Bart was struggling with unwanted homosexual feelings=2C he sought out=
 a counselor for help. The counselor=2C however=2C told him he was born gay=
. (No doubt Saundra Lund and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton would consider that to be=
 good counsel.) According to Joe and Marion=2C "When Bart came out of her o=
ffice=2C he looked like he had been given a death sentence. I know this lad=
y did not realize what she was doing . . . but she had told him he was born=
 gay. She told him we were doing him an injustice by telling him this was w=
rong and he needed to go back [to the homosexual lifestyle].

Bart Allen did go back to homosexuality =2C but he couldn't accept it. His =
lover=2C however=2C refused to accept the fact that Bart wanted to leave ho=
mosexuality behind. While Bart was asleep=2C his partner strangled him to d=
eath with a dog leash.

No doubt it is easy for people who have not struggled with this sort of thi=
ng in their own families to pass judgment on "godless" Bible-thumpers from =
a distance=2C especially in a way that very conveniently allows one to thin=
k of one's self as open-minded=2C loving=2C accepting=2C tolerant=2C etc.=20

But the fact of the matter is=2C when homosexuality is embraced by people w=
ho experience such temptations=2C it becomes a deathstyle for them in the f=
ullest and truest=2C most tragic sense of that word. Especially for those o=
f us who are struggling with such problems in our own families=2C we don't =
have the luxury of sitting back and telling people who are headed for damna=
tion that they are just fine the way they are. If speaking such truth makes=
 one a "godless soul" then I pray that such "godlessness" might flourish.
