Mr/Ms Hendrickson states "This quote was too much for me to let slide
through, "It's a medical fact that persons trapped in homosexuality
are statistically higher to experience shortened life spans, clinical
depression, drug and alcohol abuse, and life-ending diseases. Why
can't PepsiCo understand that is not a good cause to be supporting?"
First of all, shortened life spans, clinical depression, drug and
alcohol abuse, and life ending diseases, effect way more of the
population than just gay people."
Fallacy one - Pepsi / AFA made no such statement that only gay people
suffer from these afflictions, simply that there is a statistically
higher instance among gays compared to "others".
Fallacy two - a short (10 minute search) of medical / psychological /
epidemiological data bases shows there are studies addressing and
supporting these claims. And of course there are studies addressing
and debunking these claims. The point is, one should make at least
some cursory attempt to see what arguments, both pro and con, are out
there instead of spouting "it's pure nonsense." Maybe it is. Maybe
it isn't. Did you take even a moment to look for any medical facts
one way or the other?
