*Free Public Activities at the Moscow Food Co-op in December*

*Art*
The Moscow Food Co-op welcomes Co-op employees and volunteers who will
display their work in the Co-op's deli gallery. The opening reception is
5:30 - 7 p.m., Friday, December 11, and the show runs through January 6.
The Co-op employee and volunteer art show, now in its fourth year, will
include photography, acrylics, clay, and other mediums.
During the month of December the Co-op will also have a special display
celebrating 25 years of the Co-op newsletter, /Community News/. The free
monthly publication has a wide variety of articles about the Co-op and
the community. Readers will also find delicious recipes, tips on green
building, and music and film reviews.
The Co-op T-shirt Quilt will also be on display. The quilt is made of
t-shirts from co-ops across the United States. The idea was conceived by
Dr. Ann Hoyt, a professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Each
year, the original quilt and two others are auctioned to the highest
bidder, whose bid "rents" the quilt during the following year. The
quilts are not owned, but are shared through a rotational display among
the food co-op community for the benefit of all. Used to support co-op
development, the quilts have generated over $140,000 for the education
of food cooperative staff through the Bowers Fund.
The Co-op is located at 121 East Fifth Street in downtown Moscow.
