[Vision2020] Copyright-was "The new The Saga Continues"

Regarding copyright, Newsweek may very well have purchased, or may have been granted permission by the publisher of Runner's World, or the photographer to use the photo.
In addition, Palin may have signed a release allowing Runner's World or the photographer to do basically whatever they wanted with the photo, including selling it to other organizations. 
Even if she didn't sign one, they could have bypassed any need for Palin's approval since it was used in an editorial context.
Just because Palin is the subject of the photo doesn't mean she has any rights to it's use, that right belongs with the owner of the copyright.
If there was any infringement, that issue would be between Newsweek and the copyright owner. Palin would have nothing to do with it.
