ECHOHAWK NOMINATION PASSES COMMITTEE
Crapo supports former Idaho Attorney General for BIA post
Washington, DC - Former Idaho Attorney General Larry EchoHawk is on track to become the next Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs, following a voice vote by the Senate Select Committee on Indian Affairs. Idaho Senator Mike Crapo, a member of the Committee who introduced EchoHawk at last week's nomination hearing, supported his nomination. The Senate has not yet scheduled a floor vote on the nomination.
"Larry's diverse background, including experience in law enforcement, in politics and management make him an outstanding candidate to head the Bureau of Indian Affairs," Crapo said. "Indian Tribes in Idaho, and throughout the nation, deserve an aggressive and fair advocate for their needs. They will have that in EchoHawk, and his nomination should easily win approval before the full Senate."
