Alumni Association to honor Jim Anderson March 5

The University of Idaho Alumni Association will honor Jim Anderson of
Moscow during the men’s Vandal basketball game Thursday, March 5, at 7:05
p.m. in the Cowan Spectrum. Anderson will be honored during half-time for
his longtime “faithful and distinguished service to the University of
Idaho." He will become an honorary member of the University of Idaho
Alumni Association. Alumni Relations Executive Director Steve Johnson,
Athletic Director Rob Spear and Andrea Niehenke, past president of
University of Idaho Alumni Association, will be present.

Anderson moved to Moscow in 1968 and quickly began supporting the
University and Vandal Athletics. For more than three decades he has
supported the Vandal Scholarship Fund as well as assisting with Latah
County activities, fundraiser events and programs. He has been named
Vandal Booster of the Year. Anderson has served on the Vandal Scholarship
Fund National Board of Directors and as national president of Vandal
Boosters, Inc. He initiated the idea of the colorful “I Vandal Signs" that
are proudly displayed at many businesses and homes. It is estimated that
nearly 500 signs are on display statewide. The project's revenue is vital
in supporting financial scholarships for Idaho student athletes.
