I am in the process of dealing with an apparently educated man in the  
LA area who believes in unicorns because the Bible mentions them.  
Well, Sunil, the Good Book also tells us that we may eat some  
insects. So your father needn't feel embarrassed at the dinner table.

"All winged insects that go upon all fours are an abomination to you.  
Yet among the winged insects that go on all fours you may eat those  
which have legs above their feet, with which to leap on the earth. Of  
them you may eat: the locust according to its kind, the bald locust  
according to its kind, the cricket according to its kind, and the  
grasshopper according to its kind. But all other winged insects which  
have four feet are an abomination to you" (Leviticus 11:20-23 RSV).

Ah, Blatella germanica.

[My dad is primarily a medical entomologist, and secondarily a  
parasitologist, and to my mother's dismay dinner conversations often  
involve worms, mosquitoes, and other insects.  We used to go through  
his books to identify our pests.]
