Tom
A few thing. My computer is extremely slow. This is partly because my wife has it loaded down with a lot of stuff and we are maxed out on external devices. I cannot afford an upgrade. Unlike you I I have other thing to do than camp before the computer all day. I usually spend less than an hour a day on the computer and not every day at that. I do not have the time to dig out everything I may have read in the last 10 years or so. As long as we are passing out grades, I would give you and F for comprehension. The police cannot be everywhere. The right to self defence is basic Natural Law. It goes beyond the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The Americas's 1st Freedom magazine a publication of the NRA has a feature each month entitled "Armed Citizen". It highlights two or three cases where an armed citizen either saved there own life or someone else's. To answer your original question, the December 2009 issues has an article on The New FBI Crime Report. In it are the fo!
 llowing-
In California, the state with the most gun control, has had an annual murder rate 25 percent higher, on average, that the rest of the country. And Right -to -Carry states have lower violent crime rates, on average, than the rest of the country. Of 35 cities of over 500,000 population, the three with the highest murder rate were Baltimore , Detroit and The District of Columbia. On average, those three cities had a murder rate four times higher than the average rate of the 14 big cities within Texas and Florida- the two states that gun control groups regularly attack for their pro-gun laws. You mentioned those that get killed accidentally by guns. This does happen, but not as often as the save lives. Gun safety courses should be a priority. The NRA offers them as do some police department. Guns are not toys. They should be keep out of reach of children. A round should not be left in the chamber, but it should be treated as if there is. Never point a gun at anyone unless you are
prepared to use it for defense. Guns and alcohol are a poor combination. Anyone who drinks at a hunting camp should be given a ticket.
