Re: City of Moscow Press Release
Date: August 21, 2009
For Immediate Release:
D Street Road Project from Mountain View to McDonald Elementary
Detour for school traffic
Moscow, Idaho -The construction work on D Street from Mountain View to
McDonald Elementary school will necessitate detours for vehicular
traffic accessing the school. Vehicles will need to use the established
detour, which routes traffic to F Street and South on Eisenhower.
Pedestrians are asked to use extra caution through the construction zone
as they utilize the new sidewalk on the South side of D Street to the
school.
The Street should be paved and open to traffic by Friday, September 11.
The D Street work is being done as part of a Federal Aid Enhancement
Program project for which the City of Moscow will receive federal funds.
The project includes pavement widening to accommodate bike lanes,
installation of curbs and gutters, and concrete sidewalks that are
intended to improve pedestrian access. Once the widening is complete,
the street will receive an asphalt overlay paid for with City funds.
The completed street section will feature sidewalks and bicycle lanes on
both sides of the street. A separate City funded project extended the
existing culverts across Paradise Creek, including the installation of a
new concrete headwall and wing-walls. The project also includes
lighting improvements, wetland impact mitigation and landscaping. The
overall project cost is estimated to be $700,000 - $800,000.
