[Vision2020] NSIDC: Arctic Ice Melts Quickly Through July 2009

There have been claims from the anthropogenic warming is doubtful camp that
there is a "recovery" in Arctic sea ice since the record low extent of
summer 2007, that calls into question the science revealing human impacts on
climate. While the current Arctic sea ice extent is higher than the record
setting low 2007 summer season, the trend lines in the following
graphs reveal that current sea ice this 2009 season does not indicate a
"recovery" in Arctic sea ice to anywhere near the 1979-2000 average. The
graphs reveal clearly that there are wide year to year variations in sea ice
extent that are a result of weather variability, while the trend line
continues to show a long term increasing decline in Arctic sea ice:
