[Vision2020] Doug Wilson's debate

Going back to the Left-Right thing:

I don't know where Hitchens stood on the Iraq War; it would surprise me if he did support it.  Any thought we're switching Hitchens, and it was conservative brother Peter who gave his British support to the war?  

Second, Wilson's lack of support for the Iraq war is not in any way a sign of any left-thinking on his part.  Far from it.  He is so virulently conservative and so impassioned about what he takes Libertarianism to be that his support was merely because "real conservatives," unlike Bush, would never support the expenditure of such a war.  Debt is worse than "defense" is better, in his book.  Teabags, anyone?

It's true that all but one or two of Wilson's books are from Canon Press, his printshop here in Moscow.  I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with Paul on this one.  I can't congratulate Wilson for being invited to participate in the debate, book, DVD and tour with Hitchens.  He is, to me, an astonishingly poor choice to represent Christianity, either as an apologist (defender), theologian, or practitioner.  Worse, he's a blowhard whose theology -- I refer to the Federal Vision -- is at direct odds with evangelicalism and, specifically, his Reformed branch thereof.  He didn't fare all that well in his July 2007 debate with me; I can't imagine that anything but his puckishness and bravado worked well for him here.  

There are innumerable Christian theologians and apologists who are worlds beyond Wilson:  Hestenes, Keener, McGrath, Plantinga, Horton, Clark-Kroeger, Belleville, Fee, Yamamoto, Elshtain, Gaebelein-Hull . . . . the list goes on and on.  And no matter how long the list of able Christian theologians, apologists, and pastors continues, it won't include Douglas Wilson.
