Moscow School Board candidate pulls out of race

Sandra Pinel has withdrawn her candidacy for the Zone 2 Moscow School Board
position that will be vacated by trustee Jennifer Watts.

Pinel notified the district in writing Monday morning that she will instead
give her support to Aleisa Barber, who she feels has more time to devote to
the position.

Barber is now the only candidate for the Zone 2 position, and will
automatically become trustee if no other candidate is nominated during the
write-in period.

Only incumbent Margaret Dibble has filed candidacy for the Zone 5 position,
though the write-in period will remain open until May 5. Zone 5 will not come
up for election if no other candidate is written in, and Dibble will remain in
her position on the board.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 19 in the boardroom of the school
district office at 650 N. Cleveland St. Absentee ballots also must be returned
to the clerk of the school board by 8 p.m.

Zone 2 encompasses an area of east Moscow, including the neighborhoods around
Lena Whitmore Elementary School, East City Park and south of McDonald
Elementary School.

Zone 5 wraps around west Moscow except an area surrounding the University of
Idaho to the south. It encompasses West A Street neighborhoods and extends
north past Viola.
