Both parties are to blame Joe. Bush drove too hard to the right. Congress drove too hard to the left. Instead of the result of a healthy balance, we had an unhealthy split. Of course Bush has a HUGE share of complicity in this whole mess.
Forward looking, Obama may have some legitimate blame too. I just think it's a little too early to tell even though the righties (especially those like Mr. right-mind who delude themselves into thinking they have the solution for everyone / everything) are already assigning defeat to Obama after he's been in office all of about 3 months. And just like how the righties assign failure to FDR in the form of 'his leftist policies that prolonged the Great Depression', even if Obama produces a solid economy, he will be villified for taking the supposed wrong (aka leftist) path toward prosperity.

OK but I never said it was "entirely" Bush's fault. That is absurd. You admit that it is largely his fault, right, or that some of it is his fault? Not everyone does!

Bush was at the top and as such the Republicans paid dearly in terms of losing the White House and Congressional seats in the November election. But it would be naive to think that economic meltdown was due entirely because of actions / inactions of the Bush administration when Congress has been controlled by the Democrats since 2006 and they control the purse strings of federal spending.
Also, regarding your reference CEOs, they always seem to make money - and lots of it - even when they drive their companies completely out of business. Enron was good example of this. So was Lehman Brothers which was in business for something like 134 years before it went belly up with a CEO who walked with something to tune of $250 million over his reign. CEO and Exec pay, stock options, and perks are good if you can get a gig like that and don't have any qualms about selling your soul.
