Nine arrests at antiwar protest in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Nine people have been arrested during an anti-war
march outside the site of this week's Republican National Convention in
St. Paul, Minnesota.

Eight were taken away in handcuffs. The ninth, a 78-year-old Roman
Catholic nun, was not cuffed.

All are charged with trespass for crossing a security fence into a
restricted area near the Xcel Energy Center, the convention hall.

Sunday's protest drew about 250 people. And organizers had announced ahead
of time that some of them would be moving into the restricted area. All
but 1 of the nine, who didn't have identification, were quickly released.

Some three-dozen marchers wore orange jumpsuits and black hoods alongside
banners, reading, "Torture Destroys Us All."

students are not very active in local elections (thank goodness!)."
