The right thing all around
Congratulations to Theresa Beaver and Rebecca Rod who were married, after sharing their lives for 17 years, in California on Oct. 27 (the announcement of the wedding appeared in the Daily News weekend edition, Nov. 1 & 2).
Given the number of anti-gay hate crimes in this region, I applaud their courage in making that announcement, and the responsible decision by the Daily News to print it.
What disgusts me is that the couple had to travel to California to wed, and that now back in Idaho, their marriage has no legal standing.
How can their love and happiness, and the ceremony that celebrates that relationship, be illegal here?
How was my life and my family degraded by their wedding?
Our state government's decision to ban same-gender marriage is just plain wrong.
