Dumping nuclear waste just 70 miles from one of the fastest growing counties in the country is not to bright.

I think they should dump all the radioactive waste under the state and US capitol buildings. It would limit the dumping, ensure better sealing and recycling, and most important, limit the careers of lobbyists and politicians.

I don't know for sure what former Idaho governor Cecil Andrus would think about Idaho being a dumping ground for contamination resulting from US global economic/military/energy hegemony over the Middle East. But that this taxpayer funded exorbitance is forced upon US citizens, who are now paying through the nose for gas/diesel price increases, in part linked to the same Middle East US policy that resulted in the Kuwait depleted uranium contamination being dumped in Idaho, might give pause regarding the absurdity of globalization agendas when they conflict with national interest agendas; the globalized multinational corporate economy needs the Middle East oil flow guaranteed, and the US taxpayer can foot the bill (in part money borrowed from China and Japan, hooray for living on credit!), while those in the US invested in these multinationals, prominent on the DJI, maintain their wealth, and those who are not, paying the higher gas and diesel costs, well, they are the
losers in the game of free market globalized capitalism. Why pretend otherwise?

Or are we going to manage the free market to help the little gal/guy with their increased gas, and food costs from diesel shipping increases? Oh, like the Federal Reserve recently bailing out Bear Stearns, a wise decision given the economic consequences of allowing the "free market" in this case to express its full "freedom?" This was an example of big government market management that would make some Socialists smile. Little gal/guy indeed!

My response: we've gone a long way in the wrong direction since Cecil Andrus was governor L

A ship carrying 6,700 tons of sand contaminated with low levels of hazardous waste at a U.S. Army base in Kuwait during the first Gulf War will be unloaded at the Port of Longview on April 22.

The vessel BBC Alabama is delivering 306 containers of the sand, which contains low levels of uranium, to the port, which will then be loaded onto trains bound for a disposal site in Grand View, Idaho, said Doug Averett, the port's director of operations.
