I was referring to the ship that was turned back when the US would not accept the refugees...referencing Sue's comment about the wandering boat.

Good Lord, Donovan, read the whole thing and then respond to it--or not. I am well aware of the difference between refuses and unable......

"And there are thousands of babies born in this country each day who are, in fact, citizens, who cannot say the pledge."--SueH

LOL. There is a difference between refuses and unable. Children cannot consent, so they cannot refuse or accept.

"This really happened in WWII, but the poor Jews were sent back to Germany to die in gas chambers."--Betsy Dickow

What a load of baloney. The USA did not send Jews to Germany to get gassed by Hitler because they refused the pledge. The pledge wasn't even official under after WWII.

Bottom line is here, if you don't care about the country that protects you, go live in one that you will.

    Best Regards,

    Donovan

      Sorry for the grim reminder.

And there are thousands of babies born in this country each day who are, in fact, citizens, who cannot say the pledge. When they are old enough we could have a sorting process whereby those who say it get a stamp of citizenship and those who refuse get sent off to one of those 100s countries you mention. Of course, if they aren't wanted there we could just keep them on some ship and let them float from port to port--sort of modern day Philip Nolans. (Remember--THE MAN WITHOUT A COUNTRY) And Geo. Bush wouldn't even have to build a fence to keep them out. Simple solutions for ..............................

I think everyone that refuses the pledge should not be allowed citizenship. If you don't like this country, there are 100s of others to choose from.
