Visionaries:

One of the areas the Moscow Chamber is trying to focus on is our
"Heart of the Arts" image. The Chamber is in the preliminary stages
of planning an Oktoberfest and ChalkWalk for downtown this fall. The
general plan is to have the ChalkWalk start about 5pm on a Friday, and
run through Saturday with awards around 7pm. The Oktoberfest would
run from about noon on Saturday until 7pm or so. They will be held on
the same weekend.

For the ChalkWalk some local "professional" artists would be used, and
the general public and kids would also be invited to participate. For
those unfamiliar with chalk art festivals, the idea is that it is a
form of performance art. The artist works on the sidewalk, and the
public gets to watch them work, and interact with them while they
work. The art made can be quite beautiful. After the festival, the
art is washed away. For an example from Prosser, WA click here:

For the Oktoberfest we are tentatively planning to have beer, sausages
and chips, etc. This would run throughout the day Saturday.

Here is where you can help, Visionaries: Give me your opinions:
1. Does the ChalkWalk sound like something you would come downtown to
see and interact with the artists?
2. What type of music would you like during Oktoberfest: Live or recorded
     a. If live-can you suggest some good bands?
3. What types of activities would you enjoy at the Oktoberfest?
4. How would you like to see local merchants involved? A small
merchant show? Other?

As you can see, we are just starting to plan for this. Your thoughts
will be valuable. Thanks for your input and any ideas you share!

Darrell
