Record Snowfalls May Compromise Structural Integrity

 

Moscow, Idaho - February 8, 2008 - Record snow fall and our current
warming trend has significantly increased the water content in snow
accumulations, and as a result the weight of that snow.  With additional
precipitation in the forecast this could further increase water content
and the weight of snow loads.  This is of particular concern for
residents and property owners with roofs that are flat or have a minimal
pitch.  Citizens are advised to be aware of the potential danger heavy
snow loads present to structures and are asked to take necessary
precautions to reduce that danger.
