[Vision2020] Barack Obama In Democratic Ada County Idaho

Ted,

There were like 16,000 people that showed up to see Obama. Those weren't just Democrats living in Ada county. Neighboring county, Canyon County, were also drawn to the event.

I don't think Idaho is going to vote Democrat in 2008. However, I think that an Obama nomination would certainly lead to a large victory in November.

Clinton is very divisive. More and more Democrats that I talk to are saying they want a change, a different direction than two dynasties of Bush and Clinton.

  Best Regards,

  Donovan

Idaho is a solidly Republican state, but Boise, where Barack Obama spoke, is not Republican...Governors Kempthorne and Otter lost Ada (Boise) county to Democrat Brady in 2002 and 06.

Nor is Moscow the most "progressive" city in Idaho, in my opinion. Boise's north side is more progressive than Moscow, having elected the only openly gay member of the Idaho legislature. Do you think the Moscow area could pull this off? Need I point out the large anti-gay voting block in our area?:

News story on a recent attempt by Idaho legislators to protect gays from discrimination:

In one of the early surprises of the 2008 legislative session, a Senate committee voted Monday to introduce a bill to protect gays and lesbians from discrimination. Just as quickly, the bill could be dead. Maybe not a surprise, but a disappointment anyway.

He said he's discussed the issue with Boise Democratic Rep. Nicole LeFavour, the Legislature's only openly gay lawmaker, who supports the bill.

Democrat Brady won Ada county (Boise), in both 2002 and 2006, against Republicans Kempthorne and Otter. The margin in 2006 was Brady 51% to Otter's 45%:

Here is an article on Boise's Democratic party orientation shift:

"Ada County and Boise have become increasingly urban," Werk said. "Democrats are very attuned to urban issues."
