City of Moscow, please keep your own sidewalk clean around the fire
department on Pintail Lane. The sidewalk on highway 95 is not cleaned off.

  For Immediate Release:

  Citizen Snow Removal Reminders

Moscow, Idaho, December 30, 2008 – The City of Moscow, like many areas of
the Palouse and Pacific Northwest, has received a considerable amount of
snow this winter and as a result there is a large accumulation of plowed
snow on some City streets and sidewalks.

To aid in clearing the streets of plowed snow, the City would like to
remind residents that under Moscow City Code, vehicles are required to be
moved every 48 hours or they may be cited, towed and impounded. When
residents move their vehicles on a regular basis, City Street Crews are able
to plow the roadways more efficiently and thoroughly without leaving snow
berms around vehicles. This allows the City to maintain at least two lanes
open for traffic on the public streets and reduces the likelihood of traffic
incidents.

Moscow City Code also requires property owners to keep sidewalks clear of
snow to allow safe traversing by pedestrians in the City. Please make every
attempt to keep sidewalks clear. The City recognizes there are some
residents that are not able to clear their sidewalks. In an effort to help
those citizens the City of Moscow Police Department is looking for citizen
volunteers to assist in clearing sidewalks. Any individual interested in
volunteering or in need of assistance should call the Moscow Police
Department at 208-883-7054.
