Idaho To Trot Out New Helmets, Uniforms For Arizona Game

MOSCOW - The Idaho football team will wear new helmets and uniforms when it
opens its season at Arizona this weekend.

The helmets now feature what the school calls the "I-Vandals" logo. For the
last quarter-century, Idaho's helmets only had the script "Vandals" on the
side - there was no logo.

The new uniform tops are solid white (for road games) or black (home), and
both have gold trim around the neck and arms. The players' last names are on
the back.

The pants for both home and away games are solid gold.

"I like the look a lot," second-year coach Robb Akey said. "I guess everyone
is going to have to get to the Dome next week to see what they look like, or
get down to Tucson this week to find out what the road trip (uniform) looks
like."

The uniform change came after Idaho signed an apparel deal with Nike during
the offseason. The Vandals had gotten their gear from Adidas before the
switch.

The Vandals' opener will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Tucson. Arizona is a
27-point betting favorite.

No television coverage is scheduled.
