[Vision2020] Ex-UI Researcher Faces Deportation

Just to throw another light into this thread:

One of the reasons I have nothing good to say about the UI is that
when I worked there, every now and then I would be told on a pay day
that I would not be getting a check until I presented my green card
to the foreign-workers desk of human services. I was born in Gritman
Memorial Hospital in Moscow Idaho. I would present a certified copy
of my Idaho birth certificate, the foot print from the hospital, my
social security card issued in the early 1950's, my school photos
going back to kindergarden, driver's licences since I was fourteen,
and whatever else I could find that would document my life-long
Moscow residency. None of it was acceptable proof that I had a right
to work at the university. They wanted the green card and my
passport. The first time it was sort of amusing; the sixth time wasn't.

When the UI can't understand the concept that a natural born citizen
has a right to work, I put little weight on their advice to those who
have moved here from another country.
