The case of Katarzyna Dziewanowaka is not comparable to the illegal alian problem. She was asked to come here and did an excellent job. She won the outstanding lab tech award last year. The fault here lies with an idiotic bureaucrat and the University. I would like to ask every one to wrie their congressmen(local and national). I plan on writing a letter to te editor at the DN asking their readers to do the same.
The UI employs a vast number of people from around the world. Whether this is good or bad is debateable. In some cases the may not have Americans apply. For the last opening for a faculty member in Vet and Animal Science there were only three applicants. One from South America, ome from China and one from Iran. The Iranian is already here as a post doc. He is a nice guy and has a good command of english. He is my pick, But this is a separate problem. The point is that Katarzyna was asked to come here, has done a good job and ha not done anything illegal. She should not be kicked out. Write your congressmen

> EXACTLY, Chas!UI screwed this lady over like nobody's business. Everything is fine and dandy as long as the university is getting something out of the deal. When the university placed her in an unemployed status, they virtually forced her to violate (and terminate) her visa. Instead of going to bat for her (and showing her that the university cares and has a conscience), they kicked her to the proverbial curb. That is NOT the University of Idaho that I have learned to admire, nor is it the University of Idaho with which I care to associate.I have lost ALOT of respect for my alma mater.Seeya round town, Moscow.Tom Hansen
