  Keely,

You read more into this than is necessary. And you are quick to jump to conclusions.

I just wanted those that may have had boys at the scout camp to see the information. God forbid that this would ever happen here at MSD. I wouldn't wish this on any one.

Just because it is one teacher I am sure all of the other teachers or leaders are free from this kind of perversion. I would never say that the principal of the school was in any way involved or did he condone or hide from the public the actions of this wretched individual. To imply this would be wrong and immoral, not to mention in poor taste.

All folks involved, except the perpetrator, should be free from implication and guilt by association. If I had wrongly implicated any one in authority I would repent of my sin of slander and apologize, in public to the leaders in question. I would take down my web page that proclaimed falsehoods and I would cease and desist all of my wrong, immoral actions.

The actions of one sour grape shouldn't reflect in any way on the others associated with the group. We should, as Christian people, take things at face value and then seek to help those that are affected by the rotten situation. Compassion should be at the top of the list of things to do; not retribution or vengeance.

I just don't want any agency, the scouts, or the school system, or law enforcement, or the man's Church to be dragged through the mud because they didn't say anything until later down the road. One bad apple doesn't spoil the whole basket. You just pitch it out and that keeps the other apples from getting infected or implicated in the situation.

I hope that I cleared up any misunderstanding you may have. I wouldn't want any of us to operate under two sets of standards. We should act as Christians.

  Thanks, Doug

I'm proud of you, Doug. You were able to find the word "Moscow" in this story, and even put the dateline and the header together to make it look like an MSD problem. You've learned well, grasshopper.

Now I'll do my part: If Kellis is guilty, he is a predator, a sick and bad, bad man. Now I hope that officials in Tumwater, Craigmont, and Clarkston do the right thing and notify parents and neighbors that this man had worked in their communities. The Boy Scouts need to do the same thing -- notify parents and anyone else whose kids might have come into contact with him during a Boy Scout activity -- and then humbly acknowledge the thanks of a grateful community for doing their best to be responsible and considerate.

Moscow, Idaho - Five additional charges of lewd and lascivious conduct have been leveled against a Tumwater, Wash., man.
Timothy Andrew Kellis is already charged with sexually abusing boys at Camp Grizzly, a Boy Scout camp near Harvard in Latah County.
Kellis, 38, is scheduled to appear in Moscow's 2nd District Court on Thursday on one count of sexual abuse of a child younger than 16 and two counts of lewd conduct with a minor younger than 16.
County Prosecutor William Thompson, Jr., said the new charges stem from allegations by two additional victims. Lt. Charlie Spencer of the Idaho State Police said parents of boys who attended the camp are calling daily.
Kellis, a band leader at A.G. West Black High School in Tumwater, worked as a teacher at Highland High School in Craigmont from 2001 to 2006, according to an Idaho State Police report. In addition, he worked as an assistant director for the Clarkston High School marching band from 1995 to 2006, and as a Scout master in Clarkston, officials said.
Kellis was arrested April 12 in Moscow on the initial charges and was released three days later after posting $25,000 bail.
