And, wasn't it just yesterday GMA apologist Gary Crabtree had the audacity
to accuse the MCA of "electioneering at its absolute worst"?! So much for
any credibility he had left . . .
Arrogant double standards of the kind Mr. Crabtree tosses around are
precisely the reason I agree with this part Jeff Harkins' post the other
day:
"For my taste, it is time for a change in Moscow."
Absolutely! Let's finish the housecleaning that was started last election!
Vote for candidates who will continue to bring transparency, accountability,
integrity, and honesty - all core values that have been conspicuously absent
during some eras - back to City Hall!
Let's continue to send a loud and clear message that our community deserves
far better than the ancient outdated notions of cronyism, patronage, and the
good ol' boy network in City Hall. Projects and issues should be decided on
merits, not based on who a council (or staff) member is related to, grew up
with, went to school with, goes to church with, is neighbors with, or
otherwise "knows."
Given how many seats we have up for election, the GMA candidate endorsements
made my voting decisions much easier. Sorry, Dan . . . when you bed down
with the dogs, you come up with things like fleas and other parasites --
ick. And, for the record: no, I'm not a member of the MCA.

Although I don't live in Moscow and can't vote in the City election, the
stance on issues by the Greater Moscow Alliance candidates frankly has me
concerned.
In the Daily News this morning was an ad, "Water? The anti-growth
politicians are all wet." Basically, Carscallen, Krauss and Steed do not
think we have a water problem. The ad talks about 'smart conservation' but
the candidates have said they want green lawns, development at all costs,
the scientists are wrong, Pullman is getting a new golf course, etc.
Then below the ad header, "Forward Thinking." Perhaps "Heads in the Sand"
would be a better description. Is their idea of Forward Thinking ignoring
all the REAL warning signs? What about the many small domestic wells near
Moscow that have gone dry? What about the declining aquifer? What about
WSU realizing that it is unwise to water the golf course with aquifer water
and are planning an effluent system? What about the small towns on the edge
of the Snake River Aquifer whose wells have gone dry and fighting over water
rights has escalated to violence? Have they heard about drought and
declining aquifers in nearly every other area of the country?
Please vote for intelligent planning and real Forward Thinking; vote Ament,
Holmes, Lamar and Pall.
