[Vision2020] taping the candidate forums

I have never known a politician that didn't relish a little face time in front of a camera. More so, it provides an opportunity for those of us who have other commitments during this time but would like to see the forum. I know this forum is sponsored by the Chamber, but is it not for the public?

I suspect that the candidates will not object to videotaping, particularly if they don't object to audiotaping. City Council meetings are routinely recorded and televised. The more ways that these forums can be recorded and made available for the folks that cannot miss work or leave home or whatever, the better. It appeared to me that several folks were either audiotaping or videotaping at the NSA forum that I attended a few weeks back.
I recommend that recording of these events be allowed -- and of any kind, audio or video. Just as you get more from a face-to-face interview as compared to a phone interview, I would think that the subtle non-verbal communication that one might pick up from a video might offer more information than a mere audio recording.

Tom,
Give a guy some time to respond! I'm not at the desk 24/7...
Our letter of invitation to the candidates didn't mention videotaping. I don't want to introduce a variable to them that they were not aware of in advance. Radio Free Moscow will be audio taping, though. I hope that satisfies your needs for documentation.
Here are the details you asked about:
10/17/07, noon, Washington Room, University Inn
Please RSVP to the Chamber at 882-1800.
See you there Tom!

Unless I hear differently from you I will assume that video-taping of Wednesday's candidates forum is permitted and will proceed accordingly
Thank you for your concern in this matter.

Mr. Keim -
I sincerely appreciate your direct and immediate response, something that has been sorely missed from the Chamber of Commerce. It is most refreshing to know that the chamber will be responsive to the Moscow community. Thank you.
Two questions:
1) When and where will the CofC City Council Candidates Forum be conducted at the University Inn?
2) Is video-taping the forum permitted?
Thank you for your anticipated response.
Seeya round town, Moscow.
