Exactly, Bill.

Public schools should not be denigrated with the adverse connotations
associated with the label "government schools".

They are not government schools. They are EVERYBOD's schools.

Seeya round town, Moscow.

"We're a town of about 23,000 with 10,000 college students. The college
students are not very active in local elections (thank goodness!)."

Subject: [Vision2020] support for school levy

Nancy Chaney asked me to post her letter. BL

----------------------

Please join us in voting "Yes" on November 13 for Moscow School District 281
election to increase the indefinite term supplemental levy. Accessible,
affordable quality public education is important for today's students and
tomorrow's economic, social and environmental well-being. The next
generations of parents, leaders, teachers, business owners, and scientists
must be as well-prepared as possible to address future challenges. Voting to
support our teachers and schools is something that we can do to help.

Approval on Nov 13 will reaffirm voters' previous support and allow our
public schools to maintain existing programs, while adjusting for inflation
that has occurred since the fixed levy was approved.

Private and professional-technical education opportunities are valuable too,
but public education is designed for the majority. We support public
education because it serves everyone, not just those from privileged
backgrounds, particular religious persuasions, one gender or the other, or
certain racial or ethnic groups. With few exceptions, public education is
for everyone.

Please vote "Yes" for our schools. It is an investment in the future.

Nancy Chaney & Gary Bryan
