For those of you interested in seeing some quality football played in the
Kibbie Dome, the Orofino Maniacs will be taking on the Nampa Christian
Trojans in the semi-final round of the state 2A championship playoffs at 6
p.m. this Friday night.
Directly following that game, the Troy Trojans face off with the Kendrick
Tigers in 1A Division I (8-man) action. For those of you who haven't seen
8-man football, it's generally a wide open, fast action, high scoring
affair.
In 8-man ball, even a 26 point lead in the fourth quarter doesn't a team
will win. Kendrick came back from a 14-40 deficit in the final period
against Prairie to notch a 50-40 win a couple of weeks ago.
The Tigers, 7-1, will be looking to avenge a regular season loss to the
Trojans, also 7-1, in this Whitepine League rumble. The Tigers haven't
played for a state championship since 2001, when they won their second of
back-to-back titles.
After being bumped from contention in the semi final round in each of the
past three years, the Trojans are hungry for a championship game appearance.
This is gonna be good.........
So, the question remains, "Are you ready for some REAL football?"
