Visionaries:
During my tenure with the Moscow District, there were many school board
meetings groups of parents and students attended to ask that specific
programs be added. My recollection is that the school board often responded
favorably. I recently spoke to a former member of the board of trustees
whose recollection is similar.
I have not attended many board meetings in recent years. I am curious about
what outcry there has been from parents and students for additional
vocational programs.
I agree an assessment of our vocational/technical needs is very important.
However, I deplore the method Weitz, DeMeerleer, and others are using. I
read information leading up to the most recent levy election. The meaning
of the ballot question was abundantly clear. The suggestion that the
district is “stealing” from the public is out of line, in my opinion. If we
find that the wording on the ballot was not appropriate, that can certainly
be corrected in the future.
Meanwhile, let’s be honest about what the real issues are and take a
positive approach to solving problems that exist.
