Sali doesn't represent Idaho

Rep. Bill Sali represents Idaho's 1st Congressional District in the U.S.
House of Representatives. In my opinion, Sali frequently casts his vote
before putting his mind in gear - if that's possible.

On April 26 the House approved HR 249 to restore the prohibition on the
commercial sale and slaughter of wild free-roaming horses and burros living
on public land so they would not end up on the dinner plates of fancy
European restaurants. In spite of the fact that these animals are part of
America's heritage, Sali voted no.

On April 25, the House approved HR 1678, the Torture Victims Relief
Reauthorization Act of 2007. The act authorizes appropriations to provide
assistance to medical centers for the treatment of innocent victims of
torture initiated by the United States government. The vote was 418-7. Sali
was one of those seven who voted no.

I could list eight more of Sali's April votes where he joined 2 to 9 percent
of the House members present in casting no votes on bills that were
no-brainer yes votes, but space does not allow.

Who does Sali represent? Certainly not the conservatives residing in Idaho.

"Forty percent of the mass of every tree in the forest is crude oil. Stop
and think about that. We call them fossil fuels because they used to be
live stuff . . . now in the ground is turned into crude oil."

- Bill Sali (September 21, 2006)
