[Vision2020] She's Back :-) Only in a Different Form :-)

Interesting how the folks out at the Husky/Opyr compound aren't all that
keen on the old back and forth, the give and take. Apparently it's more fun
to simply broadcast your irrefutable wisdom to the world and not have to
deal with the unpleasantness of actual debate. Even a forum as decidedly
friendly to their collective viewpoints as V2020 is to jarring to their
delicate sensibilities. First Opie runs off to her failed version of
Shangri-la, quickly followed by the wanna be philosopher king, pooh bear (or
was it metz followed by Joanie?) and now Rose joins the ranks of those who
prefer to exclaim rather than discuss. Can "Ford", hansen and Fox be far
behind? (Hell, hansen is nearly there already) Will Mix, Lund, and Schou be
setting up web sites to let the world revel in their uncontested POV? Why
enable the comments function on your blog when you have already dispensed
all the wisdom that any mere mortal could possibly absorb? Questions or
comments would just detract from the splendor that is you.

Visionaires,
For those of you who -- like me -- have missed reading posts by plain
speaking Rose Husky, it gives me great pleasure to write, "She's baaack!"
You can catch up with Rose at her fabulous new blog Cleaning House:
http://www.cleaning-house.org/
To whet your appetite, I don't think Rose would object to me giving y'all a
little taste here on the Viz:
"Welcome to Cleaning House - May 3, 2007
I have lived in a small community in north Idaho most of my life. Together,
my husband (of forty-three years) and I raised a large, inter-racial family.
I have a Master of Arts in history, with an emphasis on the American West
and Women's History. I continue to study and learn about my life-long
interest, Holocaust Studies.
When I was ten years old, my mother accused me of always siding with the
underdog. I thought her remarks were a splendid compliment, although that
was not her intention. It remains my belief that we are all obligated to
speak and act in ways that will improve the opportunities and lives of
others. I am inspired by the work of Alice Paul, Ida Wells-Barnett, Fannie
Lou Hamer, and Barbara Tuchman.
This blog is the result of the happy influence of three dear friends. One
friend gave me a refrigerator magnet which is really funny and delightfully
true. It is a photograph of a 1950s-era housewife holding a mixing bowl in
one hand and a wooden spoon in the other. The accompanying text reads, "She
liked to stir things up" - hence, the retro theme on this website. For a
look at similar products check out Anne Taintor. Another friend has been a
steadfast companion and colleague in many adventures. She signs her emails
with a quotation that informs her every action: "The only thing necessary
for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing." The third friend
is an extremely talented, intellectually generous, meticulous craftsperson.
We share a commitment to the wisdom of Scripture and, in particular, in the
context of this blog, to the following text: "Is this not the fast that I
have chosen: to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens,
and to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?" (Isaiah 58:6).
Most of us remember being told by our parents to "clean up that mess!"
Occasionally we weren't even responsible for it, but that wasn't a
compelling claim to avoid the work - at least not in my childhood home. As
adults we can, and often do, give ourselves permission to ignore the
confused consequences of inept local, state, and national government, the
shameless hypocrisy of prominent people in our community, and the
underhanded antics of self-serving corporate and national leaders. These
blinders are convenient when we want those who are vulnerable or in need to
be invisible. By avoiding public controversy and costly personal commitment
we protect our own carefully nurtured image and interests.
"Cleaning House" has both a literal and figurative meaning. I adore the
antiseptic smell and cleaning power of Pine-Sol; I celebrate when my
cupboards and closets are well organized; I am obsessive about perfectly
made (must have hospital corners) beds; a tidy pantry and an orderly sewing
room bring me great joy. (In truth, however, these elements are rarely
enjoyed simultaneously.) Not surprisingly, I will blog about the home
related topics that I am addicted to quilting, good books, great recipes,
the PBR, and yes, even cleaning. An experienced eye for rooting out trashy
messes doesn't stop at my doorstep. Consequently, I will also blog about
local, state, and national issues (and personalities) that need fumigation
via a healthy dose of sunlight, disinfectant, and the dogged application of
a scrubbing brush. Initially some of the categories will feature old Vision
2020 posts. They act as temporary place holders to allow a category to show
on the website. I will be adding additional categories over time. A blog
will appear on the home page, but also within an assigned category. This
blog will be adding other features, and some editing changes will, no doubt
appear.
I welcome your comments, but this is a monitored website and I will not
publish racist, sexist, homophobic, or anonymous remarks. If you won't claim
it, you don't get to say it on my blog. Well, actually, I might publish some
samples of dim-witted emails in order to expose the intellectual and moral
defectives that, sadly, are not all together uncommon in this neck of the
woods. I have never given a fig if others agree with me or not, and I don't
need external affirmation to validate my beliefs, or prop up my sense of
self-esteem. However, I do expect responders to demonstrate civility,
intelligence, integrity, and, it is to be hoped, an abundance of good humor.
Please note: the comments section is not quite ready. I will alert readers
as soon as it is. Thanks for your patience.
