Thanks Gary
I might add that the VA is not in bad shape because of privatization, but because it is ran by bureaucrats, we need to get it fixed. If enough pressure is put on politicians may they will get ir fixed.

> The children in those photos owe their lives and what ever future might be theirs to the soldiers who are risking their own to make Iraq a place where they might possibly grow up to be something other than fodder for a ruthless dictator. Every soldier I have talked to went into the current conflict with their eyes wide open and came away feeling that they had made a positive difference after having been there. As to your woolgathering regarding the fate of the aforementioned children and soldiers, most of the kids have a shot at an education and a more fulfilling life (especially the girls) and the soldiers are either back home secure in the knowledge they made a difference or still over there quietly doing their jobs to the very best of their ability. Second guessing their mission and bad mouthing their leaders is doing nothing to make their lives any easier, but then again I don't imagine that was ever part of the game plan.

> You know, Pat, I saw at least two of these photos in the mainstream media some time ago, even though the ignorant wag who wrote the captions would have us believe differently, and it moved me to believe our service personnel deserve better than we are giving them today. I'm not talking about time and funds either. I'm talking about their right to be home with family before they die in the desert or are forced to return for a second, third, or even fourth tour in a war that will never be resolved through their deaths or the deaths of the children so touchingly shown in the pictures below. I wonder how many of the soldiers and the kids they befriended are alive today. I wonder how, if they are wounded in this war, will we in America care for them in medical facilities that crumble because of our government's insistence on privitizing its responsibilities. I wonder when, if they should be killed, our President will view the blood on his hands from sons and daughters he!
  never
knew, and say, "enough." I wonder why we continue to support egomaniacs hellbent on the pursuit of policy that even their military strategists and diplomats tell them is wrong.
